Probate
Probate is the legal process by which a person's final debts are settled and legal title to property is formally passed from the decedent to his or her beneficiaries and heirs. The lawyers at Bret Jones, P.A. handle the probate process to provide for the decedent’s desired transition of his or her estate. Although many Florida lawyers handle probate, we take pride in our ability to work with families in Florida summary administrations, handling foreign probates, and, if needed, to assist with guardianship issues that may also arise prior to or during the probate process.
Because we have focused part of our practice on estate planning and asset protection under Florida law, we do everything we can before death to minimize the probate process after death. Also, with the real estate and property market taking such a fall in recent years, we find that current issues in probate arise in short sale or property transfer matters occurring after death.
