Estate Planning

Estate Planning is the process of planning for what you want to happen at death or incapacity. Through your Florida estate plan, our lawyers can help you provide for an orderly transfer of your property at death, authorize others to transact business on your behalf, name a guardian for your minor children, and authorize another person to make health care decisions for you when you are unable to make them for yourself. This requires a professional advisor who is familiar with your goals and concerns, your assets and how they are owned, and your family structure. As Central Florida estate planning lawyers, the attorneys at Bret Jones, P.A. will work with your financial advisor, CPA, accountant, or business planner to make sure that your estate plan works with the other strategies in place to protect and support you and your assets.

The estate planning process involves a detailed discussion of your assets and liabilities, and your personal goals of how and to whom you would like them distributed when you die. There are a number of methods available to effect distribution, each having advantages in certain circumstances.

We offer a variety of estate planning services, including but not limited to:

  • Preparation of Wills
  • Preparation of Durable Powers of Attorney
  • Preparation of Medical Powers of Attorney (Healthcare Surrogate)
  • Preparation of Revocable Living Trusts
  • Preparation of Irrevocable Trusts
  • Preparation of Charitable Remainder Trusts
  • Preparation of Transfer on Death/Pay on Death registrations

With our tax attorney, we will help you determine the estate plan that is most suitable to your situation, and prepare the will, trust, or other estate planning vehicle that will accomplish your goals. When you come to our office to discuss your estate plan, you will meet with a lawyer (not a paralegal) who will sit down and speak with you directly about your personal needs and requests. We will prepare documents for your review and make changes as you need. Because we have a tax attorney, estate planning paralegals, and multiple notary public professionals on staff, we can (and will make every effort to) ensure that your estate planning process is informative, complete, and thorough.
