Areas of Practice
Contract Law
In many situations, preventing a conflict from happening can be accomplished by negotiating contracts that identify potential areas of future disagreement, and then creating terms that will prevent those disagreements from flaring up, or at least provide a way for the parties to work through them. Preparation, negotiation, and review of the following areas can help reduce any potential areas of future disagreement:
- Employment and independent contractor agreements;
- Non-competition and non-solicitation agreements;
- Leases;
- Business purchase agreements;
- Sales agreements;
- Licensing agreements; and
- Settlement agreements.
Well-planned contracts can help make sure your time and energy are focused on running a successful business instead of spending time and energy trying to resolve preventable conflicts. For a smooth transaction, ensure your interests are protected from the start. We can review any contract and explain your rights and responsibilities as the contract is written. If you are not in agreement with the contract, you may request us to negotiate the terms with the opposing side until you feel protected. If you need a contract written, we can prepare one based on your needs and make sure that both parties are in agreement prior to signing.
